Last week, the Pensacola International Airport unveiled its early concepts for a $90 million airport expansion at an open house event.
The designs showed that the airport would expand the terminal by about 50,000 square feet, adding five new gates and an expanded security area, as well as more space for food sales.
Pensacola’s airport continues to experience record-setting growth, with more than 3 million passengers in the last year. The growth in travel has outpaced the capacity of the terminal facilities, and expanding them has become a major priority for the city.
“We are 100% committed to moving this project forward,” Pensacola Mayor D.C. Reeves said in an announcement with the preliminary designs.
